Ruck Plate PT

Ruck plates make great dumbbells, kettle bells, and weight plates. Get a great upper body workout with nothing more than a ruck plate.

A Ruck Plate is a steel weight designed to fit securely in most rucksacks (backpacks). They are typically rectangle in shape with “handles” on each end.

One advantage of using Ruck Plates is that they do not take up a lot of room and are made to fit securely in your pack.

I personally use the GORUCK Ruck Plates for both ruck training as well as strength training.

Ruck Plate PT is resistance training using ruck plates. It is simply replacing other pieces of weight training equipment with a ruck plate or in some cases adding a ruck plate to bodyweight training.

A disadvantage is the amount of weight. Most Ruck Plates only go up to 45 lbs. You can get the GORUCK Ruck Plates in a bundle of 10-lbs, 20-lbs, and 30-lbs.

  1. Ruck plate PT is great for functional training by forcing you to use a common shaped, real-world object for training.
  2. It reduces the amount of equipment you need for your home (garage) gym by using the same weight for multiple workout methods.
  3. Provides the same type of full body workout that kettle bells can give you.

Ok, let’s get to the good stuff. Here are but a few exercises you can do with your ruck plates to build strength.
